With a rugged, rampaging performance Stonehaven Girls slick passing overcame a physically strong counter-attacking Buchan side to register their fourth win in five games.
The breakthrough came for Stoney when the attacking brio of Porter led to her measured cross flying across the six yard box for the onrushing Townsend to crash in.
Stoney kept up the pressure and a second goal looked to be imminent but when it did come it came at the other end. A fine Buchan move led to the ball being played through in the inside left channel with their left winger clipping a wonderful shot over the keeper.
Stoney were back in the lead when Townsend broke from midfield to slide the ball through to Porter racing forward and clipped a shot past the keeper from the edge of the area.
Christie then made it 3-1 with a driven shot from the left edge of the area which deflected off a defender to loop past the home goalie. Buchan then got one back with another fine finish this time their star centre-forward crashing the ball home after a driving run.
Buchan were trying to get the ball to their towering striker at every opportunity but like superglue Watson matched her stride for stride sticking with her all over the pitch.
Smith urged her team on and Townsend’s strength and close control was needed in the centre of the pitch as Stoney slowly reasserted their grip on proceedings. Christie’s brave header nearly put in Porter. From the wonderfully delivered corner from Spence Brawley nonchalantly flicked the ball in with her knee .
