Stonehaven welcomed Inverness City to a very wet Glenury Park on Saturday in the knowledge that a win would see them go top of the McBookie.com Superleague.
The hosts didn’t get off to the best of starts and found themselves behind after 7 minutes when a ball from the right found Gary Miller at the back post and his free header found the back of the net.
Hive did manage to find the equaliser and it came on 36 minutes. Johnston did well down the Hive right and his ball into the box was turned home by JORDAN REID.
Stonehaven were given a large slice of luck on 41 minutes when an Inverness goal was disallowed for a foul spotted by the near side linesman.
Half time - Stonehaven 1-1 Inverness City
Hive found themselves in front when a ball upfield found Jordan Reid who saw his shot blocked and the loose ball fell to SCOTT ADAMS who side footed home from the edge of the penalty area.
Five minutes later and a good low cross from the right from Johnston was only just missed at the back post.
Shortly afterwards Hive put the game out of reach of their opponents when good play between Anderson, Cheyne and Adams saw the ball played into the box which found the head of MARTIN SHAND who got slightest of touches to make it 3-1.
Despite a few half chances there was to be no further scoring and the home side sealed the win which puts them top of the McBookie.com Superleague.
