Johner smash five past Dyce

Johnshaven travelled up to Dyce for the second time in just four weeks, after drawing them in the second round of the Association Trophy.

The away team travelled with just 13 players, with substitute keeper Stephen, and R. Blease who was carrying a knock from the previous week, named as substitutes.

In the sixth minute, the away team took an early lead. A terrific through ball from R. Tringham found Scott Beedie who lobbed the advancing keeper to give them the perfect start.

In the 20th minute, after some fantastic battling for the ball from winger Smith, he managed to hit a low cross into the path of Robert Milne who was hand to poke the ball past the keeper at the back post and double Athletic’s lead.

Johnshaven were made aware that they would not have it all their own way when the referee awarded Dyce a penalty after he adjudged a visiting defender had committed a foul. Keeper Findlater dived the right way but the penalty was too clinical to keep out of the net.

Johner restored their two-goal cushion on the stroke of half time when the brilliant Lee Paton controlled a long ball, beat his full back for pace and finished into the
bottom corner.

Johnshaven again gave Dyce an undeserved opening into the game when, unfortunately, one of their defenders put the ball into his own net as he tried to clear from a corner.

With 20 minutes to go, Ross Blease replaced Robert Tringham. Just a couple of minutes later the sub was called upon to dispatch a penalty after MacLaren was fouled inside the box, and dispatch he did as the keeper dived the wrong way.

Johnshaven wrapped up things nicely with a few minutes left when Paton crossed for Robert Milne to head home at the back post for his second and Johner’s fifth
