Johnshaven shut up shop

Johnshaven FC have annoounced that they will not be able to compete in the upcoming season and have gone into abeyance.

In a short reported sent through to the Mearns Leader and Kincardineshire Observer this week it said that with no manager and very few players the club had to make a decision whether to continue.

The report said: “It is with great regret that Johnshaven Athletic announces following a committee meeting last week it was decided that with no manager and very few of the team remaining that it is not possible for them to participate in the coming season.

It was decided they would go into abeyance and see what happens in the future.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who over the 15 years the club has been in existence, has been on the committee, been in the various management teams, played for Johnshaven Athletic sponsored us and stood on the touchline in support.

“On a more personal note Colin & Liz Hancox would like to publically thank Pete Williams for organising a collection from committee members, players past & present and then buying the many lovely gifts they were presented with. It was a very humbling experience to be so generously honoured, at our presentation night in the Black Horse Montrose at which several players from the past made an appearance, for doing something that was a pleasure to be involved with.”
