Ten-man Johnhaven crash out of cup

Johnshaven were knocked out of the third round of the Scottish cup after travelling up to play against the ex-premier league outfit with just 10 players after being let down by late call offs.

The away team set out to try frustrate Beacon but they lost an early goal in the seventh minute when an attacker lost his man and finished well at the front post.

Keeper Spink denied a couple of certain goals not long after first from a header from a corner, and then a spectacular diving save from a free kick that he pushed wide of the post.

Johnshaven showed great discipline and commitment to maintain the scoreline
till just before half time, when the home team doubled their lead with a free kick which was taken quickly and caught the away outfit off guard.

Johnshaven pressed a little more in the beginning of the second half and grabbed a goal back after an hour.
Mennie won a header in the middle of the park to Keddie, who played in a great through-ball to Beedie, making his comeback after threemonths, who then slotted past the keeper.

Johnner nearly got an equaliser in a near carbon copy move but Beedie’s shot went narrowly wide.

Beacon then killed the spirit of the Johner team on the day as they scored after a winger ran down the left wing and cut back for a striker to slot home at the near post.

Johnshaven had battled superbly throughout
the whole game but the extra man difference,
along with the home team brining on fresh legs really told in the last 25 minutes as Beacon ran away comfortab
ly with the tie scoring
another four goals to make it 7-1.

Manager Williams ranted: “Obviously a disappointing result for us all, but everyone who played can be proud at the level of performance they put in to the game for an hour anyway.”
