Luthermuir Ladies FC had another hard away game against local rivals Forfar Farmington Ladies at Market Muir on Saturday.
A minute silence was held before the game for coach, Brian Adamson from Forfar who sadly died late last year with both teams having players play for him over previous seasons.
Luthermuir started the brighter and within six minutes had carved open their first chance. A ball thrown in by Young down the right was controlled by Reoch first time and layed back to Young. Her first time cross was missed by the Forfar defence and Murison took a touch and fired her shot just wide.
On 10 minutes a ball over the back line had Lownie pressing the defender and she managed to just get her foot in before the keeper and nip it round her. Before she could get a shot in on goal it was cleared for a throw in by a last gasp clearance from a defender.
On 15 minutes a goal kick from Caney in the Forfar goal was headed back over the defence by Barker where Reoch took a touch but her shot went just wide of the post.
The Muir were continuing to control the game and force Forfar on to the back foot. On 26 minutes a great run by Murison through the heart of the pitch was only stopped when Ritchie took her down 25 yards out. Bruce stepped up and hit a trademark free kick over the wall and into the top corner.
Forfar created their first real chance on 30 minutes when good work down the wing by Mulholland and Whyte created a chance for Smith but her shot went wide. Straight from Aiken’s kick the ball was flicked on by Shaw to Barker and she played Murison in behind the defence but her shot went wide of the post.
Within a few minutes a ball from Barker to Lownie was flicked over the last defender for Reoch in the box but she blasted over the crossbar.
The last chance fell to Reoch a few minutes before half time when a ball down the wing by Murison to Lownie was passed inside to Reoch but her shot was blocked.
Luthermuir started where they left off in the first half and had a succession of corners trying to put pressure on the Forfar defence but they held firm with some great defending.
On 65 minutes a good move from Steel, Richie and Mackenzie had Martin away down the wing but a great tackle from Young prevented her from going anywhere to hurt the Muir defence.
Good work down the right by Murison for Luthermuir won them a corner on 69 minutes. Bruce whipped a dangerous ball to the back post where Middleton tapped it in for 2-0.
This seemed to deflate the home side and Luthermuir continued to pass the ball about looking for another opportunity. It came on 76 minutes when a ball in had Lownie racing to the byline on the left. She flicked the ball over the on rushing defender and headed it back to the 18 yard line where the on rushing Barker lobbed it over the keeper for 3-0.
Luthermuir then made a couple of changes to freshen up some areas and as Bruce raced through the centre Ritchie was late with her tackle. From 35 yards Bruce fancied her chances again but her shot was well saved by Caney.
The final chance of the game fell to Martin when she was set clear in behind the Muir defence with only the keeper to beat and as she delayed her shot Steel came in from the side and cleared.
