Good medal haul for Stoney Gymnastics

Stonehaven Gymnastics Club were recently represented by 20 girls at the North District novice and intermediate competition.

In the 8/9 years beginners, Esme Rushmer and Heather MacEachern competed very well, in their first competition at this level.

In the 10/11 years beginners, Amelie Palmer and Abi Wood, again competing in their first competition at this level, performed very well with Amelie winning the Gold for her vault and finishing fifth overall out of nearly 50 gymnasts.

In the 12+ years beginners, the team of Natalie Davis, Isla Stevenson, Rosa Jackson, Jessica Morrow and Katie Bennett all competed well against a tough field.

In the 8/9 years intermediates, Ella McRobbie was the clubs only competitor, she finished in a very high 6th overall.

In the 10/11 years intermediates, the team of Kirstin Reith, Emily Winton, Layla McLaughlin, and Iona McArdle just missed the medals finishing 4th and Layla also won the Silver medal for her vault.

In the 12+ years intermediates, Glenn Masson competed very well for the first time in this age group. The team of Stacey Hay, Annabel Reith, Bethany Bruce, Sophie Owen and Catherine Wotherspoon won the Gold team medal. Annabel also won the Silver on floor and Silver overall, Catherine won the Gold on floor and Gold medal and Shield overall.

The club is very proud of all the girls and would like to thank the parents who came along to support the gymnasts, as well as helping with raffle and programme selling.
