Mackie Minis entertained over 500 children at the academy in Stonehaven for a mini rugby festival last Sunday.
After a cold start, the clubs arrived from all points north and south including players from Ellon, Garioch, Deeside, Aberdeen Wanderers, Aberdeen Grammar, Dundee, Madrascals and Perthshire RFC.
At P4 age group, the clubs split into two pools and played some friendly round-robin games to ensure all players got a good helping of rugby.
The quality of play displayed by all teams attending was of a very high standard with, at the top level, Mackie competing well using their newly-acquired rucking skills to successfully control the ball and, therefore, the games.
Against strong opposition, in particular Perthshire, the game was fiercely competative with rucking contests all over the pitch, fast flowing running, strong tackling and very importantly good organisation and shape displayed by the teams.
Thanks to the visiting teams and supporters for their good nature and sportsmanship, and to the Mackie army of volunteers for their help and assistance in putting on such an event for the kids to enjoy.
