Patrick Young of Stonehaven Tennis Club has helped the North of Scotland 14&U county team to a hugely successful third place finish at the AEGON county cup.
Alongside STC club coach Bruce McIver - who captained the North team - Patrick and his team mates travelled to Wrexham early in May for Stage One of the competition.
Two nail-biting singles wins from Patrick helped the North see off Essex, Northumberland and Lancashire to win the event and qualify for the National finals in Nottingham.
In Nottingham, the eight winning teams from Stage One contained many of the UKs top players for this age group, but the North boys more than held their own managing to finish second in their group to Middlesex.
In the third/fourth play off against Kent, Patrick and his partner,
Ross Martin, won the decisive doubles in three sets, ensuring a 4-2 victory for the team and with it third place.
That finish equaled the best ever performance from any North county side.
Meanwhile, on adjacent courts, the West of Scotland team overcame Middlesex in the final making it a great weekend all round for Scottish Tennis.
