It was an “action packed” weekend for 400 of the North East’s Sooyang Do Martial Arts students as The United Kingdom Sooyang Do Association held their December belt examinations at the Westdyke Leisure Centre in Westhill last weekend.
From complete beginners through to 2nd Degree Black Belt, and from 5years old to over 60 years old, all participants contributed to a fantastic exhibition of this unique martial art.
Colleen McIver, Examiner/Chief Instructor of Portlethen/Summerhill Sooyang Do Clubs said: “It was a fantastic experience for everyone involved including instructors, students, parents and spectators and was a proud day for all concerned.
“Saturday’s examinations kicked off with 30 senior students being tested for their 1st /2nd Dans and intermediate tags and a further 8 students being tested and awarded that coveted Black Belt for the first time. “Amongst those who received their belt promotion were students from Portlethen Sooyang Do club – Fraser Lindsay, Arran Cosgrove, Ellie Lumsden, Lucy Ronnie and from Stonehaven Sooyang Do club – Ross Gordon, Alex Garrett, and Matthew Walker. Congratulations to you all.”
