Stonehaven Amateur Swimming Club (SASC) raised over £2700 at a recent fundraiser held by the club.
The whole club came together to swim the distance of the London Marathon to raise funds for two separate causes.
The club was inspired by sisters SASC Membership Secretary Kay Sellar and Junior Bronze Coach Janice Jamieson who recently ran the London Marathon.
The sponsored swim took place at the Stonehaven Leisure Centre at the end of March with the club finalising money raised this week. The swimmers were organised into relay teams with swimmers from each squad making up four teams - one for each lane available to them.
The swimmers swam the marathon distance in 2 hours 19 minutes 12 seconds. Each swimmer was asked to swim a number of lengths depending on their ability. Each of the groups were named after superheroes which was the theme of the fundraiser.
The total amount collected in sponsor money was £2762.
Half of the money £1381 was presented to Kay and Janice who ran the London Marathon for the charity Children with Cancer.
