The Winter League finals take place this Saturday and Sunday starting at 9am on both days.
The singles competition saw some late changes take place to the finals line up with a mixture of some golfers being unable to play and the Aberdeen cup final on Sunday meaning the eventual eight qualifiers are S.McGhie (385), J.Lonie (373), M.Rendall (367), D.Barnard (366) , G.Docherty (360), P.McWhirter (358), D.Henderson (354) and G.Garden (351).
In the handicap doubles, top seeds Duncan and Wood relinquished their right to play owing to the cup final with the fifth best pairing of T.Simpson and A.Barnett (598) joining G.Deans and G.McHardy (588), D.Callaghan and D.Summers (593) and M.Halliday and S.Campbell (594).
The only change in the Scratch doubles was Barry Mcgillivary and Stuart Dempster moving into number one seeds with a gross 60 giving them a 10-round total of 621, two shots better than the long term leading partnership of Harry Roulston and Neil Irvine.
Both pairs will be joined by K.Riddell and R.McAllan (636) and A.Officer and C.Arthur (643). With all the finalist knowing that they are now effectively into a new chapter of the competition and what has went before has no bearing, some good scores will be required to take the respective trophies. Bunkers will be back in play for this weekend’s play.
