Narrow win for Fordoun Galaxy

Fordoun Galaxy 1

Fordoun chose to play with the wind first half and created the better chances.

The MCT keeper saved at the feet of Darren Cruickshank after Fordoun cut through the middle of the home defence then Derek Anderson saw an effort cleared off the line after showing composure in the box when a corner kick broke his way and, in the final chance of the half, a Kevin Duncan free kick was charged down by teammate Blair Smith.

MCT’s best chances came from corner kicks but on the whole Marc Milne and the visiting defence dealt with whatever the home side could throw at them and were disappointed to go in level at the break.

With the wind at their backs, MCT hoped to create more in the second half but again it was Fordoun who had the best chances. Among others, Dean McComiskie and Michael Deans had good chances to put the visitors ahead and Darren Cruickshank was denied by the offside flag.

Fordoun finally broke the deadlock on the hour mark when Luke Myers cut in from the right wing, rounded the keeper and slotted home from an ever tightening angle.

MCT had few clear cut chances to equalise but did force a great save as Marc Milne dived to his left to paw a shot round the post and from a corner kick Kevin Duncan did well on the line to head a goal-bound effort over the bar.

Ryan Murray had Fordoun’s last chance to seal the points but saw his effort go narrowly past.

In the end a resolute Fordoun were able to see the game out and claim an important three points.
