Stonehaven Darts League

The newly re-named Stonehaven & District Darts League recently held their AGM where it was voted to formally change the name of the league from Stonehaven Darts League.

Over recent years there have been more teams joining the league from out with Stonehaven and this has been recognised with the name change – the league is made up of teams from Stonehaven, Portlethen, Newtonhill and Catterline.

The new league season, with 12 teams, will start on Wednesday, September 9 2015 and thanks go to Gerry Tait of The Neuk, Portlethen for his continued support of the league for the coming season.

During the AGM the following members of the committee were re-elected; Grant Robb (Chairperson), Barry Gellatly (Secretary), Alex Walker (Treasurer) and Elaine Kearns (Committee Member). Mike Grubb stepped down as a Committee Member for the coming season and was replaced by Craig Archibald. Along with minor rule amendments which were approved, the Treasurers Report was heard which showed the league to be in a healthy financial position.

Prior to the AGM, a separate meeting had been held to discuss a team representing the league in Super League competition. Following Grampian Darts Association’s acceptance, Stonehaven will have a team playing in the forthcoming Men’s Super League season with the first fixture on Sunday 30th August 2015, away to Aberdeen West. Stonehaven are delighted to become Grampian’s 12th Super League team and are looking forward to the coming season and opportunity to play darts at a higher level. Stonehaven’s home matches will be played at Stonehaven Bowling Club.
