Revenge win for Portlethen

Luthermuir 1

Portlethen 3

The last time these two sides met was back in May as Luthermuir won 1-0 to clinch promotion to the Premier Division. This time it was Portlethen’s turn to take some revenge with a 3-1 win.

Luthermuir finished last season as champions of Division One East with Portlethen promoted in second place.

Portlethen had most of the early posession, but Luthermuir should have taken the lead in 15 minutes. Clayton broke on the right and cut the ball back for Anderson to blaze over from ten yards.

The wind got up midway through the first half and proceeded to spoil the game.

Portlethen took the lead in 40 minutes when a cross from the left from Craig Will held up in the wind and dipped in under the bar.

Portlethen added a second on the hour mark. Luthermuir failed to clear a corner and Ryan Causby scored with a shot on the turn.

Luthermuir got a goal back in 80 minutes when the ball was cut back for Andy Donald to shoot into the top corner.

Luthermuir pushed for an equaliser but were caught out right on time when Will ran clear on a long ball and cut inside before slamming a shot home.
