Run Loch Ness for Meningitis Research

If you fancy the challenge of a monster run alongside the shores of the world’s most famous loch, then the Loch Ness Marathon is for you!

If you don’t feel ready to tackle 26 miles, as well as the full marathon there are a 10k corporate challenge, 5k and ‘wee nessie’ for little monsters aged 5 and under to take part in too. The event is on Sunday 2 October 2011.

Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) seeks participants willing to make a marathon effort and help raise vital funds needed for research to eliminate the life threatening diseases of meningitis and septicaemia.

These can strike people of any age at any time. They can kill in under 4 hours, people who are faced with them have to act fast to save a life, it really is a ‘race against time’.

Last year over two hundred and twenty people throughout Scotland contracted meningitis or septicaemia. Tragically there were over thirty deaths and one in four will be left with life limiting after effects as serious as deafness, brain damage and amputations.

Please help raise much-needed funds for MRF to continue its vital research into the detection, prevention & treatment of meningitis and septicaemia.
