Stonehaven Running Club held its annual prize giving ceremony on Saturday in the Town Hall. This year the club combined the prizegiving with a ceilidh and much fun was had by all. Prizes were awarded to club members as follows: Mens Championship
1 Mike Raffan; Joint 2nd Graham Ritchie & Scott Sell.
Ladies Championship: 1 Ann Gallon; 2 Nicola Rhind; 3 Rebecca Bryce. Improvers Cup
1 Gavin Clunie; 2 Morag Coull; 3 Jackie Reid.
Gold Standard - Complete six formal events one of which must be a minimum of a marathon, four of which must be over 65% WAVA. Margaret Connon, Dave Morrow, Mike Raffan, Graham Ritchie, Victoria Shanks.
Silver Standard - Complete five formal events one of which must be a minimum of a half marathon, three of which must be over 60% WAVA. Rebecca Bryce, Ann Gallon, Nicola Rhind, John Ritchie, Fiona Smith.
Bronze Standard - Complete four formal events one of which must be a minimum of a 10k, two of which must be over 55% WAVA. Susi Michie, Kate Robertson, Claire Robson, Scott Sell, Iain Shanks, Laura Sleigh, Nicola Stuart.
In previous years the committee made an award to someone who has done something a bit special. This year it has been formalised into a ‘Star Achievement’ award. The winner was Wendy Inglis for saving her son’s life through knowledge gained from the Home Start charity then she raised a significant amount of money for the charity by running the D33 ultra marathon. She also ran the Stonehaven half marathon while four months pregnant with her fourth child.
