Saints march on

St Laurence progressed to the third round of the AFC Trophy, with a convincing 6-1 away win against BSFC at Balgownie.

St Laurence started the better of the two teams and threatened right from the off. They found themselves a goal ahead after five minutes. Great play in the middle of the park released Borland down the right and his cross found C. Craigie at the back post who smashed his shot home.

St Laurence continued to press, with both Ryan Arthur and Myles causing problems for the home defence.

Pure pace and determination, allowed Myles in and he slotted under the advancing goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

St Laurence took their foot off the pedal and allowed the home team to create several chances but Hadden was equal to them with several fine saves, ensuring the Saints took a 2-0 lead into the break.

St Laurence came out the second half the same way they started the first and Myles combined with both Neil Arthur and Bruce, before racing clear and finishing with style with a cheeky chip over the advancing goalie.

The goal killed the game for the home team, and they went further behind, when a Myles corner was turned into his own net by one of the BSFC players at the back post.

Myles continued to cause problem with his speed and he raced down the left wing beating several players before being brought down in the box. Ryan Arthur, the regular penalty taker, unselfishly passed the ball to Myles who scored from the spot to complete a well-deserved hat-trick.

BSFC managed to get a goal back after some sloppy defending and a bit of luck. Hadden made a double save at the feet of a striker before the ball was finally turned home in a goalmouth scramble.

St Laurence grabbed a sixth with 10 minutes to go, a deep corner found Doug Harley unmarked and he made no mistake to complete the scoring.
