THREE Banchory Stonehaven Athletic Club members claimed Scottish School Championship gold medals at Grangemouth Stadium at the weekend.
Sixteen year old Kathryn Christie, representing Aboyne Academy sprinted her way to two golds, one in the 100m and the other in the 200m.
In winning the 100m in a time of 12.52 secs, Kathryn also collected the George Atithie Trophy.
Kathryn’s winning time of 24.86 secs in the 200m was the fastest she has run at the distance, elevating her to fifth fastest in the UK in her age group.
Stonehaven based Kelsey Stewart, representing Mackie Academy, who is still recovering from long-term injury problems, was back to her best. She finished comfortably well ahead of her nearest rival to win gold in the 14/15 age group 200m in a new personal best time of 26.29 secs.
The time puts Kelsey fastest over 200m in Scotland for her age group.
Michael Ferguson, also representing Mackie Academy, ran a superb 400m in the U17 age group.
Michael led all the way round the track to finish over a second ahead of his nearest rival in a time of 50.83 secs which was a new personal best.
