Stoney work hard v league leaders

East End United 14

Stonehaven 0

Stonehaven U13 Girls played away to the league leaders East End United and lost 14-0. On paper this appears to be a trouncing but in truth, as is often the case at this level, the score did not reflect Stonie’s excellent effort. Aberdeen were the better side but were made to work hard throughout.

After about 20 minutes the game was goalless and Porter and Townsend and both gone close before it started raining goals.

With an own goal and a couple of deflections, Aberdeen were soon three up and had doubled it by the interval, all this with Stonie having forced about half a dozen corners.

It was mutch of the same in the second half where Stonie again started brightly with Porter, Laing and Farquhar all very close to scoring.

Again the young Stonehaven team tired towards the end and conceded a number of late goals.

U13 Girls: Chelsea Traynor, Emily Grundy, Eilidh Mitchell, Katy Townsend, Anne Laing, Brooke Farquhar, Lisa Porter. Subs: Molly McVey, Lucy McVey.

Magic Moment: From a Townsend corner, a flashing half-volley from Mitchell.

Player of the match: Either Mitchell battling in defence or the power running of Porter.
