Local charity Angus Arts is again hosting a world-class live music concert at the acoustically brilliant Dickson Hall in Laurencekirk tomorrow (Friday).
Maria MacDonell, co-creative director of Angus Arts, explained: “We’re hosting a fabulous Edinburgh-based group called Barony Ensemble which comprises four musicians of the highest calibre.
‘‘Jean Johnson (clarinet) is a busy international collaborator in chamber music, has a regular duo with her husband, pianist Steven Osborne, and together with Aisling O’Dea (violin) she also plays with the critically acclaimed chamber ensemble ‘Daniel’s Beard’.
‘‘Aisling is a chamber musician in high demand, a founding member of the Artisan Piano Trio and also plays with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Christian Elliott (cello) is already known to Angus Arts concert goers as a member of Raeburn Quartet and he enjoys a varied career as a chamber musician, orchestral musician, soloist and composer, and Rachel Roberts (viola), one of Britain’s leading violists, performs internationally as a soloist and chamber with recent highlights including live BBC3 recitals with the London Conchord Ensemble.
‘‘We’re extremely fortunate to be hosting this talented quartet as this is their only UK performance prior to their European tour.
‘‘The programme offers a mixture of contemporary and classical composers and promises a musical journey spanning over four centuries, from late Renaissance to mid 20th Century.
