TICKETS have gone on sale for Stonehaven’s Hogmanay music spectacular - Open Air In The Square 2014.
A limited number of “early bird” tickets went on sale on Monday through the groups website at a reduced rate of £25 per ticket plus booking fee. They are available through the event website www.oaits.org/tickets
Last year “early bird” tickets for Scots rock giants Simple Minds sold out in hours at Stonehaven’s June Feein’ Market but this year they are only being sold online to improve administration.
Once the first batch of tickets are sold the remaining tickets will be sold at a full price yet to be fixed.
Meanwhile the volunteers who run the OAITS committee are working on signing up another “big name” to top the bill at the New Year show and they have already been approached by a number of top acts.
Speculation has been rife about who is to star this after last year’s outstanding success. During the sell-out show Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr told the 5,000-strong audience in Stonehaven square: “Thanks for inviting us to your party. We won’t forget this ... never!”
Since then the organisers have been overwhelmed by messages of praise and congratulation from all over the globe along with a host of photos and videos from the night.
OAITS chairman David Lawman said today: “We are delighted to get the show back on the road again after last year’s outstanding success. Despite the blood, sweat and tears of last year we are totally heartened by the kind comments we have received from those who turned up from home and abroad to have a wonderful Hogmanay in Stonehaven. So, with renewed enthusiasm, we will be working hard again to try to build a show every bit as good as last year’s.”
He added that once again they would be looking for a number of support acts.
And again they would be running a “Battle of the Bands” contest to give one lucky group the chance to share the stage with the bill-topping act. This will be organised by new OAITS committee member Chrissie Stirk of Ma Simpson’s music shop.
Mr Lawman stressed: “Once again funding is a big issue and we will be seeking out backers to help sponsor the event.
“Any business people who witnessed the success of the Simple Minds night, will realise the value of the publicity attached to being a sponsor.
“If any forward-looking firms want to get onboard please contact us. ”
