Charity Open Day

A BRAVE Stonehaven woman is hoping to kick off the New Year by raising as much as she can for charity – by shaving her head.

Angela Canale has offered to lose her locks in support of Cancer Research UK on January 7, and is looking for sponsors to help her reach her goal.

And Angela’s fundraising mission is not the only fundraising taking place that day, as she is doing it as part of a charity open day at new Stonehaven salon, Edge Hair and Beauty.

Located at 13 Barclay Street, on the same premises as the former Shockwaves, the revamped salon will open in January with a bang, and owner Julie Baxter is hoping to raise as much for the charity as she can.

She said: “The charity is close to my heart and we are hoping to raise a lot of money. There is going to be loads going on. There will be a raffle with lots of prizes including a clairvoyant reading, horse-riding lessons, teeth whitening, hair and beauty vouchers and other items.”

There will be free treatments available on the day, including mini manicures, glitter tattoos, hair curling and straightening and eyebrow waxing, and there will be a collection box with all donations going to cancer research too. Two local lads have also volunteered to a chest and back wax, and anyone wishing to sponsor them or Angela can do so by visiting www.justgiving.com/Edge2OpenDay . The Open Day will take place on January 7 from 10am-4pm at Edge2 at 13 Barclay Street, Stonehaven.
