Children living in the Mearns are keeping the atmosphere of Glasgow 2014 going for another week.

The ‘Fit for a King’ holiday club is being held next week in Bervie Sports Centre. Organised by local churches, the event is one of hundreds taking place in Scotland this summer with a special Commonwealth Games theme.

Over 120 children have already registered to take part. Organiser Margaret Benton says that she is: “really looking forward to an exciting week ahead.”

There will be games, songs, crafts and stories from the Bible with everyone being assigned to a particular team.

‘Fit for a King’ starts on Monday 11th August and runs every morning next week.

Around Scotland, churches have been getting out and about in their communities during the Commonwealth Games. Over 4000 children will take part in Fit for a King clubs this summer.
